PHILIPPINE COAST GUARD PARTICIPATES IN 3RD ASEAN-ROK MARITIME COOPERATION SEMINAR

On 15 May 2025, Philippine Coast Guard Commander of Sea Marshall Force, Cdr. Carlos Victor V. Carlos participated in the 3rd Seminar on ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Maritime Cooperation as panel speaker.

Speaking as a panelist in the Session on “Strengthening Maritime Safety and Law Enforcement Cooperation in ASEAN”, Cdr. Carlos discussed the role of the Philippine Coast Guard in addressing maritime security threats, and the importance of inter-agency coordination and international cooperation for maritime security.

The seminar was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA).

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia, H.E. Yeo Seung-bae, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the ROK’s commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation with ASEAN and Malaysia. Other distinguished speakers include Captain Sanit Fuangkhajorn RTN, Director of Inter-Agency Cooperation at the Thailand Maritime Enforcement Command Center; Gilang Kembara, Research Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore; Captain K. Subramaniam, General Manager of the Port Klang Authority; Mohamad Marzuki Brahim, Director of the Maritime Industrial Control Division at the Malaysia Marine Department; Superintendent General Park Jae-Hwa, Director General of the Rescue and Safety Bureau, Korea Coast Guard; and First Admiral (Maritime) Shahref Steve Mac Queen Abdullah, Director of the Maritime Criminal Investigation Division at the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency.

Ambassador Maria Angela A. Ponce and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kara Denise C. Frayco represented the Embassy in the seminar. END
