KNIGHTS OF RIZAL ESTABLISHES MALAYSIA CHAPTER
Kuala Lumpur, 18 May 2025 – The Knights of Rizal (KOR) Malaysia Chapter held its Knighthood and Chartering Ceremonies on 16 May 2025 at the Philippine Embassy.
12 members were formally inducted into the Order, including nine new knights and three existing members transferring from the Hong Kong Chapter. The ceremony marked the official formation of the Malaysia Chapter.
Malaysia Chapter Commander Sir Dr. Chiam Tzeh Yew, KCR, led the ceremony together with key representatives from the KOR Headquarters led by Special Assistant to the Supreme Commander Sir Adelbert Allan, KCR, and Sir Timothy Francisco, KCR, Officer-in-Charge of the Administrative Office of the Philippine Chapter.
Ambassador Ponce congratulated the newly established chapter and its members for their dedication to upholding the ideals of Dr. José Rizal. In her remarks, she emphasized that the Order continues to serve as a global reminder of Rizal’s enduring legacy of patriotism, truth, and civic responsibility.
She also noted the relevance of Rizal’s teachings in today’s world, recalling how Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had honored Rizal as a symbol of intellectual and moral leadership for the region during his speech at his conferment ceremony at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
The Knights of Rizal (KOR) is a civic, patriotic, and cultural organization officially chartered by the Philippine government through Republic Act No. 646, enacted in 1951. It is tasked with promoting and preserving the principles and teachings of Dr. José Rizal.
The 12 new members are Tan Sri Datuk Sir Richard Cham Hak Lim, Dato Seri Sir Dr Mohd Zabidi Ahmad, Dato Sir Dr Tan Wei Neng, Dato Sir Lim Chee Tong, Sir Dr Chiam Tzeh Yew, Sir Dr Ooi Chee Hong, Sir Chiu Kai Yang, Sir Kon Qi Yao, Sir Mah Kong Hoe, Sir Johnson Yoon Jun Sheng, Sir Dr Raymond Tan Ang Chong, and Sir Dr Ken Kwok Weng Khing. -END
